Performing Arts Building

Sacred Hearts Academy

Honolulu, Hawaii
Completed 2008

The Performing Arts Building is a two-story music and dance education building that serves both Lower and Upper School students. It brings younger and older students to a common ground, a place that nurtures appreciation for music through instruction and participation.

The building is L-shaped in plan, with its two wings separated by a double-height concourse that provides an alternate route for students travelling from one end of the campus to the other. Within the concourse are located service functions such as restrooms, elevator, and stairs, as well as a long wall featuring a large donor panel and display case.  Adjacent to the concourse is a music courtyard that can be used for informal socializing or formal outdoor events.
