This project was a contractor-led design/build project that started in 2013. As part of a three-phase project, the Adult Intensive Care Unit utilizes the Hill-Rom Latitude Arm System – a system with the flexibility of a ceiling boom and the practicality of a head wall – to provide easy access to the patent and the head of the bed. This flexibility allows the bed to be placed wherever it makes most sense for patient care. As this project was a renovation to an existing floor, the system is able to be secured to the floor with minimal ceiling support structure needed. Caregivers are able to set up the arm configuration exactly as needed for gas, electric and accessory access. The arms store flat against the wall.
Attached to the AICU is a full operating pharmacy with the capability to compound medications. The pharmacy includes an Ante Room and a Hood Room.
